Job summary
This
post provides an exciting opportunity to work into Congenital Cardiology and
Neonates across LTHT. We are looking for a qualified or newly qualified
Clinical Psychologist who is caring, enthusiastic and dedicated to delivering
preventative psychological support and early intervention.
The
successful candidate will be part of a large MDT (including nursing, medical
and surgical colleagues, allied health professionals and outreach), to offer
timely, flexible and early psychological support to families within these two
departments.
Main duties of the job
The
successful candidate will have the opportunity to work therapeutically with
families across two services and be an important part of service development
in these areas.
Neonatology
The role involves working within a level 4 neonatal unit across two
neonatal wards at LGI and SJUH, supporting parents and carers of vulnerable
babies who are born early, those with congenital difficulties or those who
become ill at birth.
Congenital
Cardiology - The congenital cardiology lifespan service is embedded within
the Cardiology MDT to support the mental well-being of patients with
congenital cardiac disease. The service uses a life span approach working
into foetal clinics with parents whose babies are diagnosed antenatally, with
children & families, through transition & into adult services.
Part
of our preventative strategy to manage procedural distress is our Surgical
Preparation Pathway, an MDT approach to supporting families through open
heart surgery. We have a well-established joint psychology & play clinic
in Paediatric surgery which helps manage child and parent anxiety and support
staff. Developing a pathway to support adults waiting for surgery is an
exciting new development which this role will be part of.

Programme and Schools of Medicine and Psychology at the University of Leeds,
Sheffield and Hull. We have a strong track record of providing excellent CPD
opportunities and clinical supervision in a wide range of therapy modalities.
This
post is part of the Department of Paediatric Psychologys preceptorship
framework, whereby early career post-holders follow a pathway leading to the
Senior grade (AfC 8a), which includes completing post-qualification
supervisor and therapy training, and logging experiences commensurate with
the Senior job description.

- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology
- Two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as approved by the HCPC.
- It is a condition of your employment that you gain a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology within six months of starting in post, if not already qualified.

- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
