Education Practitioner Health Care Support Worker Development

This role is essential in supporting the chief nurse education team, and clinical service units by facilitating education, training and practice development.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in partnership with nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals and clinical educators across inter professional disciplines to plan and facilitate educational programmes. They will be responsible for the delivery of practical and theoretical clinical training programmes to support attainment of competencies prevalent to the health care support worker workforce.

The post holder will be able to thrive in a challenging and fast paced environment, actively lead monthly high-volume recruitment cycles and be comfortable with continual improvement and change management processes.

The post holder is expected to work clinically to support winter pressures on a rota based system

Working hours are either Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30 or 08:00-18:00 over 4 days.

The post is based off site at Josephs Well in Leeds which is a vibrant business community blending character and contemporary amenities.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the virtual pathway for the Care Certificate

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY

The post holder will play an essential role in supporting the corporate education team, and clinical service units by facilitating education, training and practice development to establish a high standard of education for all registered and unregistered healthcare practitioners and learners.

The post holder will work in partnership with nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals and clinical educators across inter professional disciplines to plan and facilitate educational programmes. They will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of practical and theoretical clinical training programmes to support attainment of clinical competencies in the clinical area.

The post holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and cross organisational working to ensure the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care, and leading and promoting audit, presenting findings and making suggestions to service delivery.

The post holder will, in the first instance, support the delivery of educational programmes across Leeds Teaching Hospitals, such as New to Care preparation programme. This will include supporting health care support workers in their clinical areas to achieve a high level of clinical care though the practice and attainment of clinical educational competencies, and through the application of theory into practice.

This will include the planning of programmes, teaching, implement service delivery and improvements where needed to meet governing bodies and best practice guidelines standards.

There will also be the opportunity to be involved in other workforce and education projects within the team to shape the future of our workforce.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Clinical

- Support trainee and apprentice health care support workers within clinical areas to achieve a high level of clinical care though the practice and attainment of clinical educational competencies, and through the application of theory into practice.

- Work in partnership with CSU teams in the development of department/ward practice, reflecting LTHT and partnership strategic and Corporate Nursing education and workforce delivery plans.

- Responsible for the direct delivery of clinical education reflecting current best practice for unregistered staff.

- Continuously improve standards and the quality of patient care, including those standards defined in the National Benchmarks and other clinical governance frameworks.

- Promote evidence based practice, wherever possible

- Assist in the implementation of Trust-wide nursing, midwifery and AHP policy and practice guidelines

- Provide high quality care as an expert practitioner and act as a role model and resource for advice, support and guidance

- Work with CSUs to ensure the clinical governance processes at department level encompass measures to support the education of staff in training.

- Develop effective networks with other educators, for sharing information expertise, and good practice, both within and outside the Trust

- Acts in accordance with requirements of their professional registration body (e.g. The Code from the Nursing and Midwifery Council or HCPC)
