Job summary

The Learning Disability and Autism Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals continues to grow, to meet the needs of our patients. As part of a significant investment to the team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, compassionate and innovative Registered Learning Disability Nurse to join the Corporate Nursing Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals as a Senior Clinical Educator.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work closely with the Lead Professional and the wider team to develop training about Learning Disabilities and Autism. They will lead the delivery of formal and informal training to staff across the Trust. They will be based at St Jamess Hospital but will support clinical teams across the Trust. They will require excellent communication skills to develop close working relationships with a range of partners.

The team is proud to support the Trusts strategic ambition to reduce health inequality for patients with Learning Disabilities and Autistic patients. The team is forward thinking and keen to develop current practice at a specialist level and within the wider workforce, to improve the experience of this patient group.

2. JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY

The job holder will play a lead role in ensuring the development of clinical staff both registered, unregistered and medical. The job holder will enable the development of staff, providing supervision through on-site support and Trust wide continuous professional development activities. The post holder will be responsible for leading clinical education and associated resources in their designated clinical areas. The successful candidate will provide a high standard of education.

The job holder will support the assessment of the quality of clinical and other practice learning environments, and implement interventions for improvement. The role of the Senior Clinical Educator Post is essential for the organisation to ensure staff work within the applicable governing standards set by professional and regulatory bodies. The job holder will support, educate and develop registered and unregistered staff in their clinical role and competency, to meet the standards required to deliver high quality evidence based care for service users.

The job holder will deliver education on a Trust wide basis which impacts on a wide range of clinical areas and departments. The post holder will contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of education and training of registered and unregistered workforce. They will work in collaboration with the senior management team to maintain and project the vision and objectives of the service and ensure that they are embedded in practice. They will identify and celebrate good practice and share with local and Trust teams.
