JOB
PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The
post holder is a member of a small team within the LTHT OSCE Centre, the OSCE
Centre Technician supports the OSCE Centre staff to run Observed Structured
Clinical Exams within the LTHT OSCE
Centre, by setting up a wide range of models, manikins and audio/ visual
equipment such as 3G SimMan, SMOTS
(camera, audio and recording device) Simpads, iSimulate and a wide variety of
equipment to ensure that the OSCE Centre candidates can complete their exams,
also ensuring that facilities are
booked and processed appropriately for stakeholders using the electronic
booking system.
The
LTHT OSCE Centre Technician provides support to the OSCE Centre staff with
the delivery of technical assistance for Clinical Skills and exams. The LTHT OSCE Centre Technician is
responsible for ensuring the portering team deliver a full portering support
service for the LTHT OSCE Centre.
This
also includes set up and maintain the models and manikins for the department
and order all associated consumables for exams.
The
LTHT OSCE Centre Technician will provide technical support within the OSCE
Centre, offering broad support for a number of exams using specialist
equipment particularly in support of IT/AV Skills and Simulation.
They
maintain the high standards of customer service within the LTHT OSCE Centre
and maintain a high level of quality in all aspects of their work.

4. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF
RESPONSIBILITY
Organise the days portering
demands/work with the porter team
Participate in the maintenance of a
register of all teaching/skills equipment and ensure appropriate user
maintenance is carried out.
Maintenance and management of the
simulation manikins during and in preparation for exams.
Support faculty and clinicians in
the use of the equipment and provide basic training to staff to optimise
equipment use.
Ensure adequate stocks of
instruments, equipment and consumables by means of regular stocktaking and
the production of inventories.
To effectively work as part of a
team to ensure the successful efficient running of the LTHT OSCE Centre.
To ensure exam rooms and exam
resources are set up and available in advance of exams.
Providing technical assistance,
support and advice where issues arise with medical devices when in use in the
LTHT OSCE Centre
Provide training to other centre
staff to set up and troubleshoot the whole range of audio visual &
recording equipment used within the centre.
Ensure that Information Governance
policy is established and communicated within the simulation centre when
filming occurs.
Ensure Trust policies are followed
during courses particularly in relation to consent, data protection and
privacy.
Assist with the marketing of
courses, particularly through the maintenance and development of the courses
section of the LTHT OSCE Centre Website
Uphold the customer service
standards in place within the Service, providing assistance to colleagues and
clients in a welcoming, polite and timely manner and referring to colleagues
where necessary.
Assist with the ordering of
supplies and equipment.
Support and assist users with the
range of technical systems in place within the Service. This includes but is
not limited to V/R Room Booking System and LTHT OSCE Centre Website.
Supporting the administrative
function within the Facilities team, particularly in busy periods and in the
absence of the Administrator.
Any other duties appropriate to the
banding of the post as per service requirements and the request of
management.
Ability to work flexibly and
possibly out of hours including evenings and weekends when required.
Requirement to work shift patterns
when needed.

7. INFECTION CONTROL
The
jobholder must comply at all times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS
Trust Infection Control policies, in particular by practising Universal
Infection Control Precautions. Hand hygiene must be performed before and
after contact with patients and their environment.

members and clinical teams. Develops effective working relationships with
clinical and technical staff in specialist areas for which the team is
responsible.
Discusses skills and exam
requirements and technical issues with service users.
Negotiates communicates and liaises
with other hospital technical staff to secure access to clinical areas and
equipment where this is required for an exam.
Supports discussion of service
needs with line manager and departmental lead.
12. SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Responds quickly and accurately to
deliver service in changing situations within LTHT OSCE Centre.
Works under pressure in clinical
areas when needed.
Travels occasionally to other Trust
sites and to other health care providers such as private hospitals and
conference halls.
When working on location there is
a potential for exposure to dust, noise and elevated environments.
Physical

Frequent requirement for moderate
physical effort for several short periods during a shift when maintaining
simulated equipment and environment, and exam environment preparation
(tables, chairs).
