Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the Dermatology department as theMDT Co-ordinator.

The successful applicant will provide consistent patient-centred focus throughout the pathway of care for patients on a Skin cancer pathway. The successful applicant will work closely with their Clinical colleagues to ensure all relevant patients are meeting their cancer targets by adhering to the 31 day and 62 day targets.

We are looking for a proactive and motivated individual with excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with a great attention to detail.

Ideal candidates will have to demonstrate their experience in organising and prioritising workloads. Successful candidates will receive plenty of support, guidance and learning to carry out the role and will be supported with their learning and development.

Main duties of the job

The MDT Co-ordinator role has been designed to assist in coordinating the seamless care of patients from point of referral, through the diagnostic pathway to diagnosis and subsequent follow up care. It will require the post holder will need to adapt to support the pathway as it continues to evolve over time.

The MDT Co-ordinator will provide comprehensive support to the Cancer and Melanoma teams through the co-ordination of primary and tertiary referrals and supporting patients throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway.

The post-holder acts as a single point of contact for patients and their families and as a liaison point between the Specialist Skin specialties (Dermatology, Plastic surgery and Oncology) at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • NVQ Level 4 or equivalent experience

  • Experience of working in a customer/patient focussed environment
  • Use of trusts systems including PPM.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Trust administrative protocols, policies & procedures
  • Experience of working in a hospital environmen
  • Knowledge of tracking and monitoring patients using information systems
