An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a Departmental Secretary to the
Dermatology team within the Chapel Allerton Hospital CSU. This would be an
ideal opportunity for someone looking to expand their experience and
knowledge. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive
secretarial/administrative support to the Dermatology department, based at
Chapel Allerton Hospital. The post is full time, 37.5 hours per week over
four days.
The
role will involve general secretarial duties which include the typing of
correspondence and clinic letters, dealing with telephone enquiries and
supporting the various referral to treatment targets. The successful
candidate would also be expected to make appointments for patients.

Main duties of the job
General
secretarial duties will include the typing of correspondence and clinic
letters, dealing with telephone enquiries and supporting the various referral
to treatment targets. The successful candidate would also be expected to make
appointments for patients. We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible
and hard working person.
Candidates
will need excellent communication skills, the ability to work as part of a
team, to work under minimal supervision and the ability to meet deadlines.
Experience
in typing/word processing or equivalent would be desirable to undertake this
varied and interesting role, along with a good standard of English. We offer

The
Dermatology department is one of the larger services based out of Chapel
Allerton Hospital. We have a dedicated group of doctors and nurses that are
supported by a friendly, helpful secretarial team. Teamwork within the
department is considered essential as the medical and administrative teams
need to work together in order to deliver the best service that we can do for
our patients, many of whom will have been coming to the department for many
years.

PURPOSE
The
post holder will provide a comprehensive secretarial service to the medical
team. They will support processes to
sustain the departments practice through administrative protocols, processes
and procedures in line with service needs.
They must be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with a
wide range of people including patients, medical staff and colleagues. The secretary may be required to cover for
colleagues during absence and work flexible hours when necessary.

of the medical secretary which require specialist knowledge e.g Medical
Terminology, Patient Pathway protocols.

of clinical/operational areas that the service area interacts with.
Application
of data protection and copyright laws and their affects on the service.

of the aims and application of standards of care.
An
understanding of the relationship and impact on the service of a range of IT
applications e.g. PAS.
Skills

ability to accurately transcribe complicated audio tapes, short hand notes
