An exciting opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic and dynamic Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists to join the Adult Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) team within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, working within the stroke pathway.

These posts are being offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

We are looking to recruit passionate, self-motivated speech and language therapists with a strong interest in acquired communication and swallowing disorders. Applicants should demonstrate excellent communication skills, effective time management and organisational abilities, and a high standard of clinical record keeping.

The roles will involve working as integral members of the SLT team, alongside the wider multidisciplinary team, primarily on the stroke wards. The SLT department has established networks with local community-based Speech and Language Therapy services and offers regular in-service training and professional development opportunities.

The SLT service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust provides cross-site inpatient speech and language therapy input across Leeds General Infirmary, St James's University Hospital and Chapel Allerton Hospital. Successful candidates will have excellent opportunities to further develop their skills as core members of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy team.

Main duties of the job

To fulfil this role, you will have excellent organisational and team working skills as well as experience of working within multidisciplinary teams. You will have experience of assessment, differential diagnosis and management of complex Swallowing and Communication disorders and developing and/or delivering accompanying training packages.

If successful you will join a flexible, supportive, and innovative Speech and Language Therapy service comprising of over 34 SLTs.

The Department offers comprehensive supervision in conjunction with a well-established in-service training, supervision, support, and access to regular staff meetings.

These posts will involve flexible working, and you will be included in bank holiday working rotas. Experience of VFSS and FEES competencies is desirable but not essential.
