Are you looking to extend your skill set in the area of enteral feeding and develop your education skills? We are pleased to advertise this rare and exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to work within the area of Adult Enteral Feeding. The post holder will provide expert enteral feeding advice and training to patients, carers and multidisciplinary health care professionals both within inpatient and outpatient settings at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The post holder will be part of a small team of enteral feeding nurse specialists who are part of the Adult Nutrition and Dietetic Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
We are looking for a reliable, motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse with effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with recent post-registration clinical experience in enteral feeding and delivering training and education. The post holder will be based in Bexley Wing at St Jamess Hospital and will be required to regularly work cross-site to meet the needs of the service and deliver face to face patient care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with medical, nursing and allied health professional colleagues in a variety of clinical services including endoscopy, radiology, theatres and emergency services to support enteral feeding tube placement, troubleshooting and removal. The post holder will be required to provide staff training to achieve specialist skills such as insertion and re-insertion of enteral feeding tubes (nasogastric, gastrostomy and jejunostomy tubes) and provide and implement expert clinical advice relating to care of enteral feeding tubes for both inpatient and outpatients and will be required to inform clinical decisions with support from the wider multidisciplinary team and from the lead Enteral Feeding Nurse Specialist.
In addition to face-to-face clinical work, you will be actively involved in the development, implementation, and action planning associated with Trust assurance processes such as completion of mandatory Trust audits, updating clinical guidelines/procedures/care plans and producing patient information leaflets.
