Exciting opportunities have arisen for Occupational Therapists with experience and a specialist interest in Stroke and Neurosciences to work at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We are advertising posts on 2 different rotations - at interview you will be asked which is your preferred rotation.

The neurosciences Occupational Therapy team in Leeds is committed to providing a high level of evidence based care and rehabilitation. As a Band 6 therapist you will support the Band 7 staff in leading and developing the service. Part of your role will also be to provide training and supervision to junior staff and students.

We are looking for Occupational Therapists who are passionate about putting patient outcomes at the heart of their care, and are confident, adaptable and compassionate. Experience of working with Stroke and Neurological conditions, complex caseload management and discharge planning should shine through in your application form and at interview. Our team thrive on collaboration and are proud to be part of a strong and well respected MDT, W are seeking skilled, motivated and like-minded Occupational Therapists to join our established teams.

Main duties of the job

We are committed to continuous learning and have established in house training opportunities for development at all levels: including joint sessions with Band 7/ Band 8 Clinical Specialist Therapist, peer support and monthly neuro-in service training program. We have established and effective supervision processes and support in place for all staff.

Post 1 sits within the wider neurosciences band 6 rotation, in which you can gain further clinical experience across all the specialties, including: acute stroke, stroke rehabilitation, neurosurgery, neurology, neuro-oncology (in-patient and out-patient) and neuro rehabilitation. These rotations will take you across all 3 main sites at LTHT: Leeds General Infirmary, St James Hospital and Chapel Allerton Hospital. Rotations are 18 months long.

Post 2 is within the stroke pathway rotation across the acute stroke wards at LGI, the stroke rehabilitation ward at Chapel Allerton Hospital and in the Community Stroke Rehabilitation service. You will need to be a car driver and have your own car for the community rotation. Rotations are 12 months long.

The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner addressing occupational therapy performance skills, social context and activity demands in collaboration with patients, carers and colleagues.

Clinical intervention may take place in a variety of settings including wards, therapy departments clinics, peoples homes, work places, community facilities, child care and educational establishments

The work involves close liaison with the multi-disciplinary team and community based health and social care providers

The post holder is responsible for financial and physical resources for example, use of equipment store systems such as Leeds Equipment Service, petty cash
