We are looking for motivated & enthusiastic Occupational Therapists to join the acute adult team at St. Jamess Hospital. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in the speciality teams, who as part of established multi-disciplinary teams, provide high quality care to:

Acute & respiratory medicine and Infectious/Travel Diseases

Specialist surgery including a regional centre for renal & liver surgery

Older adults

Oncology at the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.

We are looking to expand our Band 6 workforce. Offering clinical experience & development of skills across the acute specialities, combining assessment of physical, cognitive and social needs to facilitate the best outcome for patients when leaving hospital.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate in their application and at interview, relevant hospital experience including skills in autonomous decision making, acute assessment, and discharge planning. They will be forward thinking with excellent communication, team working skills and practice patient-centred care.

There will be opportunities to contribute to, facilitate, design and lead service developments, innovations, and audit with support from the experienced band 7 Occupational Therapy leads. In addition to receiving regular supervision & support, Leeds Teaching Hospitals has a wealth of learning opportunities available through the organisational learning department to support you in your ongoing personal development in addition to regular supervision and the opportunity to supervise junior staff & students.

This post holder will be responsible for providing complex occupational therapy intervention in a specific clinical speciality

The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner addressing occupational therapy performance skills, social context and activity demands in collaboration with patients, carers and colleagues.

Clinical intervention may take place in a variety of settings including wards, therapy departments clinics, peoples homes, work places, community facilities, child care and educational establishments

The work involves close liaison with the multi-disciplinary team and community based health and social care providers

The post holder is responsible for financial and physical resources for example, use of equipment store systems such as Leeds Equipment Service, petty cash
