Job summary

We have a rare opportunity for a highly motivated & enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the Oncology Occupational Therapy team based at the Yorkshire Cancer Centre at St. Jamess Hospital.

The regional team delivers high quality, holistic, patient-centred care, in line with best practice guidelines. They work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team & community services across the region. The caseload includes patients with a neurological presentation, malignant spinal cord compression, seating and wheelchair needs, assessment for rehabilitation and rapid discharge planning to support end of life care at home.

Successful candidates will be forward thinking and demonstrate excellent communication and team working skills due to the nature of the acute in-patient caseload. Applicants should demonstrate patient-centred care. Experience working in neurology would be beneficial.

This post holder will be responsible for providing complex occupational therapy intervention in a specific clinical speciality

The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner addressing occupational therapy performance skills, social context and activity demands in collaboration with patients, carers and colleagues.

Clinical intervention may take place in a variety of settings including wards, therapy departments clinics, peoples homes, work places, community facilities, child care and educational establishments

The work involves close liaison with the multi-disciplinary team and community based health and social care providers

The post holder is responsible for financial and physical resources for example, use of equipment store systems such as Leeds Equipment Service, petty cash
