Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a clinical support worker in a small team caring for patients with liver disease.

The Liver Day Case Unit provides a range of cares for patients with liver disease such as ascitic drains.

The successful candidate will join the existing team of CNSs and Nursing Associates and will be involved in taking bloods, cannulation, patient observation as well as a range of other nursing duties.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

Take blood and cannulate patients

Record Patient observations

Empty drains and record output

Assist nursing staff with other duties such as taking samples to the labs.

Assist in the day to day running od the unit such as cleaning, restocking nursing supplies and re-ordering of supplies.

Essential

  • Significant experience of working within a healthcare setting delivering personal and clinical care.

Desirable

  • Experience working in the specialty or in a day case unit setting

Qualifications

Essential

  • Basic Skills Maths and English Level 2 (A*-C GCSE equivalent) or a Level 2 pass in the LTHT designated literacy and numeracy assessment
  • The Care Certificate or in the absence of this the successful applicant must successfully attain the Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment.

Desirable

  • NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care, Diploma in Health Level 3, Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 or equivalent health care related qualification
