An
exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well-organised
individual to join the Colorectal team. This is not a traditional secretarial
role; it is to provide both high-quality medical secretarial support and
essential clinical administration.
As
a Team Medical Secretary, you will balance traditional taskssuch as audio
typing and clinical correspondencewith proactive clerical coordination. You
will be a focal point for the service, managing patient pathways, validating
waiting lists, and scheduling appointments to ensure our patients move
smoothly through their 18-week journey. We are looking for a 'can-do'
professional who enjoys a fast-paced environment where clerical precision is
as vital as secretarial expertise, The Core hours of this post is Monday
Friday 37.5 hours per week. Flexible working could be discussed once the candidate is fully embedded within
the team.
Main duties of the job
This
role serves as the essential link between clinical teams and patients,
ensuring the seamless integration of medical correspondence and clinical
administration.
You
will provide a comprehensive, high-quality secretarial service to the
Colorectal clinical teamsincluding Consultants, junior doctors, and
specialist nursing staffto support the delivery of exceptional patient care.
While you will be responsible for audio typing, proofreading clinical
documents, and minute-taking, this position is a dynamic hybrid that extends
well beyond traditional clerical tasks.
A
core responsibility involves actively managing the patient journey. You will
drive improvements in patient experience by facilitating movement through
Referral to Treatment (RTT) pathways and ensuring adherence to national
waiting time standards. This includes:
Pathway Coordination: Ensuring
patients progress smoothly by proactively scheduling and coordinating new and
follow-up appointments.
Waiting List Management: Actively
participating in the validation and maintenance of waiting lists to ensure
data accuracy and clinical safety.
