The jobholder will, work independently within agreed protocols, demonstrating evidence based care in assessment, clinical examination, clinical decision making, diagnosis, planning of care, treatment, evaluation, health promotion and safe discharge of a client group presenting with surgical problems. The jobholder will coordinate a multi-disciplinary team of staff working within the principles of Hospital @ Night.. She/he will participate in mentorship and teaching programmes for multi-disciplinary groups within the department The jobholder will provide senior nursing support, advice and professional leadership to a group of surgical wards
Main duties of the job
The job holder will work peripatetically within a ward environment caring for patients with surgical problems, delivering a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust guidelines, policies and protocols.
About us
The role is multifaceted including bed management, staff management and clinical assessment responsibilities. The role covers nights 7 days a week and also weekends and bank holiday days.
The Out of Hours Nurse Practitioner Service provides support, advice and clinical expertise to 14 wards/areas out of hours and is mostly an autonomous role.
Candidates will have significant experience at Band 5, ideally within the speciality, and be able to demonstrate good leadership qualities, an ability to work autonomously, an ability to work efficiently and effectively, excellent prioritisation skills and ideally extended clinical skills such as cannulation, venepuncture, catheterization, ECGs, ABGs and Line Bloods.
