Main duties of the job

The job holder will be instrumental in managing the inpatient workload, including daily ward visits, delivering vital bedside ERAS training and support, providing comprehensive discharge education, and actively participating in ward rounds. Their focused attention during this early stage is paramount to facilitating timely and well-informed discharges.

Furthermore, this role extends to the early transplant clinics, which run twice weekly and typically involve reviewing up to 6 patients each session, an average of 30 patient reviews per week. The job holder will work closely with the wider transplant multidisciplinary team including specialist pharmacists, nephrologists and consultants. The job holder will have the opportunity to engage with transplant education sessions and local transplant network meetings to understand the wider transplant picture with focus on service development.

About us

The Leeds Renal Services lies within the Abdominal Medicine Surgery (AMS) Clinical Service unit at Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust.

The main renal unit is at St James's University Hospital, where inpatient, outpatient, pre-dialysis, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and transplantation services are provided. Nurse-led outpatient clinics also take place at St James's.
