The Colorectal Department has an exciting opportunity for a full time Cancer Pathway Navigator. This post is crucial in ensuring that patients are seen and treated as part of the Lower GI cancer pathway in a timely fashion. The successful candidate must be proactive and have excellent communication skills, being able to liaise with patients and both clinical and administrative staff.
You will require a good knowledge of national cancer targets and be confident in applying these guidelines to a patient pathway. You must be IT literate and able to use several different IT systems to perform this role to the highest standard.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will
Communicate with relevant departments and organisations to ensure that the patients pathway is as timely as possible, and all delays are avoided.
Communicate with key departments (e.g., diagnostics, clinic bookings) to ensure all tests and investigations are completed in a timely manner and any issues are escalated.
Communicate information on the patients progress on the care pathway to CSU managers and clinicians as appropriate.
Liaise and communicate cancer guidance and definitions to key staff within the Trust.
Communicate regularly with patients to ensure they are aware of upcoming appointments, tests, investigations, or operations, and offer practical support with the arrangements.
Develop positive working relationships with all members of the team, liaising in particular with management, Consultants, specialist nurse, and administrative staff.
Manage own workload, with the ability to work independently and take initiative where appropriate; planning and organising their own time efficiently and effectively to meet all requirements.
