The Endoscopy Service in the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust operates across two acute sites: - St Jamess University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary

We are looking to recruit a Band 7 JAG accredited Nurse Endoscopist to join our large dynamic and skilled team working in endoscopy.

The nurse endoscopist team is made up of 4 Upper GI and 4 Lower GI and all have roles associated with individual skill set and specific aspects of their chosen field.

The team lead on both the upper and lower GI cancer pathways, support the BCSP services within the local catchment area, manage the PEG service within the organisations and recently undertaken the NHSE colon capsule service.

Applicants will need to demonstrate a commitment to achieving both a non-medical prescriber and train the trainer qualification. Work closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and work within local and national guidelines, policies, and standards.

Full and part time hours will be considered.

Main duties of the job

To fulfil the requirements as directed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health Care Professions Council to maintain and revalidate registration

Practice as an autonomous professional in a self-directed manner, with confidence, authority and expertise, undertaking comprehensive range of clinical endoscopic procedures.

Have direct responsibility for patient caseload, ensuring all patients have an accurate plan of care, which reflects the assessment undertaken and incorporate the issues and recommendations made.

Work within the frequently challenging clinical environments with high levels of physical and mental effort

Assess individuals, families and populations holistically using a range of different assessment methods.

Have a health promotion and prevention orientation and comprehensively assess patients for risk factors and early signs of illness.
