Our Critical Care Unit is a 23-bedded, general intensive care facility providing Level 2 and Level 3 support for a wide range of critically ill patients. The unit delivers specialist care for patients with complex medical and surgical needs, including those requiring respiratory support, cancer-related care, and recovery following major and specialist surgical procedures.
We provide advanced critical care for patients undergoing liver and renal transplantation, and other high-risk surgical interventions.
The successful candidate will have regularly acted as a shift leader in a Critical Care setting and have been involved in the support and performance review of junior colleagues. They should have a current Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) registration and be able to demonstrate recent extensive experience within the specialty. Be educated to degree level or demonstrate equivalent professional experience in particular caring for and managing the critically unwell patients. A critical care course and recognised teaching qualification is essential.
Main duties of the job
The Jobholder will carry 24 hour continuing responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the ward/department. Providing professional, clinical, and managerial leadership, and supervision for the nursing team. The jobholder is responsible for developing and maintaining the unit philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionate safe and quality care delivery and having a focussed approach to care for those who care for our patients.
