Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of dynamic motivated nurses to join our existing band 6 team on the Neuro Critical Care based at Leeds General Infirmary as a family care nurse. The post holder will provide support for families within the Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCC) including the co-ordination of follow up services for all bereaved families within NCC. The post holder will liaise with any member of the multi-disciplinary team that provides on-going care to patient and family within NCC. The Adult Critical Care CSU is a fast paced and busy environment in which to work. As part of the CSUs overall vision we aim to provide the best outcomes in the safest environments with outstanding patient and staff experience, sustainably. We are looking for dynamic individuals who can ensure the consistent delivery of high quality patient centred care to the patients nursed within our critical care unit. The successful candidate will be expected to work clinically within the multi-disciplinary team, maintain high standards of practice while supporting staff on a shift by shift basis and provide clinical leadership in decision making.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide support for families within the Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCC) including the co-ordination of follow up services for all bereaved families within NCC. The post holder will liaise with any member of the multi-disciplinary team that provides on-going care to patient and family within NCC. Effective communication skills will ensure that families are supported through their stay in NCC Bereaved families in NCC will be supported in collaboration with the wider Trust support services and through follow up with NCC staff Family centred care is promoted by working in partnership with the family Safeguarding requirements will be met within the NCC with appropriate support from Trust Services. Advice in all aspects of family support is available to the MDT to ensure staff feel supported in meeting the psycho-social needs of the families of critically ill Neuro patients Contribute to development of the NCCs end of life steering group, organ donation and safeguarding contributing into the wider Trust Strategic Groups Family feedback is collected and reported through current structures within NCC Working with Clinical Educator to ensure education and training in place to support end of life pathways.
