Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for an Assistant Psychologist (Band 4) to join the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology Services in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a service we are committed to increasing representation within psychological professions, as well as increasing the accessibility of psychological professions for those who are currently under-represented in clinical psychology. This posts are being advertised with external funding from Health Education England (HEE) to provide a paid opportunity for individuals from ethnic minority groups, socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds and/or with caring responsibilities.

The post will be offered on a temporary contract for 9 months, full time. At the point of recruitment, we would be flexible in offering full-time or part-time posts to support applicants in other paid employment roles and/or with caring responsibilities.

The role will be based between two sites: Chapel Allerton Hospital within the Complex Rehabilitation inpatient service and St James’ Hospital with the wider Psychology team.

• An upper second class honours degree or higher in Psychology.
• Entitlement to Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society.
• Experience of working directly with service users in a health care or other relevant setting.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with sensitivity.
• Able to demonstrate meeting criteria for the Aspiring Clinical Psychologist scheme – posts are funded by HEE to provide paid opportunities for individuals from ethnic minority groups, socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds and/or with caring responsibilities
