Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly organised and motivated Administrator to join our expanding team and support the work of the Radiological Physics and Radiation Protection Service. The individual will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of day to day administrative activities within a scientific and clinical environment. Full training will be provided to support the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working closely with clinical scientists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals. The individual will be responsible for documenting and maintaining accurate records of work carried out on imaging equipment on the management database, booking in jobs for QA surveys, managing departmental documentation, and handling correspondence (email and phone). The role also involves the management and procurement of items required by the section staff and dispatch and receipt of equipment used by the section staff. There is some responsibility for carrying out minor repairs and checks on items of equipment as agreed with the team lead. The post is primarily based at the LGI but involves work at other LTHT sites.

What you will bring to the role Working in a team jointly responsible for supporting technical and scientific staff. This includes scheduling visits to equipment, ensuring that they have the necessary spare parts available, that incoming jobs are booked on to the equipment management database, that work is communicated to appropriate team members and that external servicing requirements, such as booking planned maintenance and retrieving service reports are accurately attached onto the equipment management database.

Responsible for managing and procuring a stock of spare parts for repair and service work on a broad and extensive range of imaging equipment.

Responsible for accepting incoming items of equipment for service or repair, entering the details on the equipment management database and adding the item to the appropriate team member’s job queue.

Responsible for the goods inward area for the department, checking delivery notes, box contents etc. and accepting / rejecting items as necessary. This includes both spare parts and new imaging equipment.

Responsible for maintaining the equipment inventory database when asset registering new equipment, assembling trolleys and stands etc and recording own work.

Carries out initial commissioning and acceptance testing on a limited range of new equipment. Responsible for the appropriate packing and protection of imaging and test equipment being sent out of the department via a carrier.

Responsible for carrying out minor repairs and checks on items of equipment as agreed with the team lead.

Proposes changes to operational policies that impact on own area.

Writes technical procedures for own area.
