The Leeds Renal Peritoneal Dialysis Unit are looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking registered nurse Band 5 to join it’s busy team. The Peritoneal Dialysis Service based at St James's Hospital treats and supports patients in home dialysis care. You will be working within the hospital and community settings. The peritoneal dialysis Unit is open 7 days a week Monday to Friday 8.00am to 6.00pm and Saturday and Sunday 8.00am to 4.00pm. You will be required to work early and late shifts and weekend rotation.

The post offers the opportunity to develop management skills as well as developing existing or new specialist nursing skills.

You will deliver care without supervision and take responsibility as the prime care provider for a group of patients and at all times promote confidence in our commitment to provide excellent compassionate patient care. The role will involve taking charge of the ward or department as necessary in the absence of the Sister or Charge Nurse.

Abdominal Medicine and Surgery (AMS) is the largest and most complex CSU at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT). We provide acute and elective inpatient services, diagnostic services, see large numbers of outpatients and deliver life-long care. We have 14 inpatient ward areas located in Lincoln Wing and Bexley Wing at St James’s Hospital, endoscopy units across three sites and 7 satellite dialysis units across West Yorkshire. JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY

The role is to provide and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised programmes of care. The role will involve taking charge of the ward or department as necessary in the absence of the Sister or Charge Nurse.

You will participate in the in-service training, preceptorship and mentorship of junior staff, post basic learners and students as well as maintaining your personal development.

The jobholder will work within an environment caring for adult patients.

The jobholder must comply with the wearing of PPE as appropriate to the clinical situation - this may involve wearing face masks for a considerable length of time.
