Leeds Teaching Hospitals

Senior Peri-operative Assistant (XR03)

The closing date is 10 September 2025

Job summary

Would you like to be part of a highly motivated, forward thinking and hardworking team? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust to join our Vascular Access Specialist Team (VAST).

The vascular access specialist team (VAST) is looking for a new enthusiastic band 3 perioperative assistant, ideally with previous experience of insertion of various vascular access devices, though not essential as training will be supported throughout this role, giving opportunity for progression. The successful candidate would be required to embrace the key values of the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, known as The Leeds Way - Patient centred, Fair, Collaborative, Accountable and Empowered.

Please note this post will be set days working a 3-day week working Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Main duties of the job

There will be an expectation of ensuring theatre equipment and vascular access devices are stocked, and available for immediate use for theatre cases, including ordering stock and liaising with procurement, highlighting any potential issues early. The VAST runs 2 theatre sessions per week, in David Beevers Day Unit, and this role will entail scrubbing for the invasive procedures with an element of training for new staff on vascular access insertion.
