LTHT is delighted be one of five national OSCE testing centres to support nurses to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). All nurses recruited from overseas, or nurses that have taken significant time away from their nursing career, must complete an Observed Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) as part of their Test of Competence before they can be registered to practice in the UK.

The Test of Competence is a NMC requirement and enables professionals to demonstrate to assessors that they have the skills and knowledge to care for people safely and effectively.

We are working with the NMC to support the NHS, private and third sector organisations in expanding the nursing workforce in the UK. We are the first NHS organisation to be awarded a contract and have increased the testing capacity in the North of the country.
