effective Managing Director to drive activity and continued growth within its
wholly owned and very successful subsidiary, QE Facilities Ltd. With
annual turnover over £350 million and a workforce of around 4,500 staff
Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust delivers care in community settings as well as

Main duties of the job
You will
already be operating at, or close to, board level, with a strong track record
of maximising performance improvement, service enhancement whilst encouraging a
sense of unity and a one team ethos. The successful candidate will be highly

About us
Alongside
providing a comprehensive range of Acute Hospital, Mental Health and Community
Services for approximately 200,000 patients, the Trust provides a range of
specialist Gynae-oncology and Screening Services across the North of England.
In addition, we are also expanding our base of Pathology and Commercial Estates
& Facilities Services. The latter of these is delivered nationally via QE
Facilities Ltd.
Established in
2014, QE Facilities Ltd employs over 700 staff and provides an expansive range
of demand led services across estates, facilities, procurement, supply chain
management, equipment maintenance, transport services and aspects of advice
& consultancy to NHS Trusts and other bodies. Operating along commercial
lines, the subsidiary has access to the trading benefits of a private company,
whilst importantly possessing the ethos, culture and
values of a clinically led and management supported organisation that puts
patients at the centre. Crucially, all of the financial benefits
arising from the subsidiarys activities are returned to Gateshead NHS Foundation
Trust to continually enhance patient services.

As
an Executive member of the QEF Board, provide effective leadership in
developing the subsidiary company as a sustainable and thriving company
through the development and delivery of a business strategy for the provision
of a range of services to the Group and other external organisations. In addition, the post holder will be a
member of the Group Board and Trust Director team, working with executive
directors to provide collective leadership for corporate issues outside the
immediate area of responsibility
The
post holder will work with the Trust Director team to negotiate commercial
opportunities as they arise, ensuring good governance and due diligence in
line with the Trusts and Subsidiarys Schemes of Delegation
To
control and oversee all QEF business operations, people, and ventures. The
post is the highest-ranking manager in the organisation and will be
responsible for the overall growth and success of the business.
The
post holder will be a strategist and a leader able to steer the company to
the most profitable direction while also implementing its vision, mission,
and long-term goals.
The
post holder will be responsible for managing the needs and structure of a
multi-faceted business and reporting the individual trading results of each
part of the business.
As
the statutory accountable officer, to be responsible for the overall
management of the Company and its performance in terms of service provision,
financial and corporate viability, ensuring that the Company meets all its
statutory, contractual, and service obligations.
To
ensure that services provided by the subsidiary company are of high quality, professional,
responsive, generate an appropriate rate of return and meet the needs of existing
customers and emerging markets.
To
engage with all clients in continuously reviewing, evaluating, and improving
the way services are delivered, ensuring that all statutory duties are
discharged and that the subsidiary company operates at a maximum level of
efficiency.
