Job summary

To undertake a broad range of technical activities to provide a comprehensive pharmaceutical service to the benefit of patient care

Main duties of the job

- To perform pre-process checking of aseptically prepared products

- To perform accuracy checking of dispensed items including outsourced chemotherapy

- To perform quality checks of outsourced 'unlicensed' aseptic products.

- To assist in the preparation and dispensing of medicines for clinical trials.

- To assist in stock control by the correct use of the Wellsky stock control system.

- To carry out monthly internal audit checks against QAAP standards.

- To prioritize, supervise and delegate work of junior members of staff as appropriate under the supervision of the Senior Technician - Aseptic Services.

- To assist in the training of new members of staff, ensuring the implementation of department SOPs.

- Maintain CPD portfolio and complete regular re-assessment of competence.

Any other duties commensurate with the post when required.

Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead.
