Job summary
The purpose of this role is to support patients from referral, through diagnostic tests, treatment pathways and follow up to ensure the provision of safe and seamless care through appropriate service, thus maximising the health and quality of life of the patient and carers and improving the quality and efficiency of health care delivery.
The post holder will have administration experience, ideally within a medical setting as the post will involve working closely with clinicians, administrative staff and managers to ensure patient outcomes are noted and acted upon quickly by keeping records complete and up to date at all times using a range of tools and systems.
Enthusiasm, commitment, and flexibility are required for this role along with good customer service and excellent organisational and communication skills. The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail is essential.
The post holder should be computer literate and be able to work on their own initiative. They must also be able to show a willingness and ability to support other team members and to adapt to changes in the service needs.
The successful applicant will be given specific training in all areas and follow an in-house training program that will equip them to become an integral part of the Team.
Main duties of the job
To support the design and implementation of the early diagnostic pathway within the Trust Cancer Site Specific Pathways for patients with suspected cancer. The post holder will be a link between the clinical team, diagnostic services, operational teams and most importantly patients. By providing effective and efficient patient focused co-ordination of a Cancer Pathway it will enable patients to be given a diagnosis or exclusion of cancer at the earliest opportunity.

The post holder will work collaboratively across primary and secondary care with responsibility to provide an effective, caring and compassionate service to patients to optimise their access to cancer services. This will require close working with multidisciplinary teams in primary and secondary care.
