The advertised post of Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow (SCTF) is tenable for a fixed term of 12 months commencing August 2026. Please note that this vacancy is only open to applicants with a minimum of 24 months NHS experience at time of start date.
Main duties of the job
The post is for a trainee who has successfully completed the MRCS examination and aims to pursue a career in Trauma & Orthopaedics. It offers an opportunity to develop an interest in teaching whilst broadening clinical and research experience. Successful candidates will play an integral role in the delivery of the undergraduate clinical teaching programme for medical students from the University of Newcastle. The department provides teaching from early clinical experience visits to ward-based assistantships. Teaching is provided across a variety of settings, and the successful candidate will spend approximately five sessions per week delivering this. The candidate will also coordinate the Department's weekly teaching programme. The remaining 5 sessions will consist of clinical duties, research and professional development. The on-call commitment is second on call in a 1:9 rota. The main clinical duties will be across emergency and elective orthopaedic care. Opportunities for clinical research are available and can be tailored to individual requirements.
