Job summary
The advertised post of Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) is tenable for a fixed term of 12 months commencing August 2026. Please note that this vacancy is only open to applicants with a minimum of 24 months NHS experience at time of start date.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will play a central role in the coordination, organization, and delivery of the undergraduate clinical teaching program for 5 sessions per week. The remaining 5 sessions per week will consist of clinical duties and professional development.

Applications are invited from registered Medical Practitioners who possess part 1 (desirable) or part 2 (desirable) MRCP or equivalent for the above post based within the Medical directorate in Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust. The department provides undergraduate teaching to medical students from Newcastle University in Years 3, 4 and 5 as part of their MBBS training. Teaching is provided in a variety of clinical settings and the postholder will provide teaching to individuals, small groups and participate in simulation teaching. The postholder will be expected to participate in student induction and assessments throughout the year. A variety of clinical sessions are provided within the job plan, and it is expected that these will provide the postholder with valuable clinical experience as well as providing an opportunity to deliver clinical teaching. Timetables are flexible to meets the needs of the service and will be discussed at interview.
