Job summary

The Marketing and Communications Officer (Charity) works within Gateshead Health Charity to increase awareness, engagement and support for the charity's work. The post supports delivery of the charity strategy through effective marketing, communications and campaign activity, helping to grow income and strengthen relationships with supporters, staff and partners.

The role is varied and hands on, supporting multiple projects at the same time, including digital communications, events, campaigns and stakeholder engagement. The post holder works closely with the communications team, charity colleagues and wider Trust teams to deliver consistent, high-quality communications that reflect the values of Gateshead Health and the charity.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Support the delivery of the charity's communications and marketing activity in line with agreed plans and priorities.
  • Create engaging content across digital and print channels, including social media, websites, newsletters and promotional materials.
  • Manage and update the charity's digital presence, including social media platforms and website content.
  • Support the planning and delivery of fundraising campaigns, events and awareness activity.
  • Work with colleagues across the Trust to gather stories and demonstrate the impact of charitable funding.
  • Produce reports using data and analytics to evaluate engagement and performance.
  • Support the production of the charity's annual report and impact reporting.
  • Assist with photography, video and visual content to support campaigns and events.
  • Provide communications support to the wider Trust where appropriate.
  • Ensure all activity complies with data protection, fundraising regulation and Trust policies.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will work as part of the Communications and Charity Team, supporting the delivery of marketing and communications activity that promotes the work and impact of Gateshead Health Charity. The role requires strong organisational skills, creativity and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment.

Key responsibilities include planning and delivering content across multiple channels, including digital platforms, internal communications, printed materials and campaign assets. This includes producing copy, coordinating visuals and ensuring messaging is clear, accurate and engaging. The post holder will manage day to day social media activity, monitor performance and produce insight reports to inform future activity.

The role involves supporting the delivery of fundraising events and campaigns, including liaising with internal teams, volunteers and external stakeholders. This includes attending events, supporting logistics and ensuring appropriate promotion before, during and after activity.

The post holder will contribute to the charitys annual communications planning, support the development of impact reporting and assist with the production of the annual report. They will also support relationship building with staff, fundraisers, partners and supporters to help grow engagement and income.

The role requires close working with the wider communications team to ensure consistent messaging across the organisation and alignment with Trust priorities. The post holder will also support communications activity that reflects the values of the Trust and charity, including sensitive engagement with donors, patients and families when required.

The post holder is expected to work flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends for events, and to manage their workload with minimal supervision. They will follow Trust policies, data protection requirements and fundraising regulations, and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.
