Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for one qualified ACP with experience in acute or emergency care to join the Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust . This role is suitable for an individual that is keen to be part of a fast-paced environment where every day is different.

The SDEC unit aims to reduce the need for hospital admissions, improve patient safety and satisfaction by offering same day assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment for a range of urgent and emergency conditions. The post holder will be required to work as a leading part a of multi-disciplinary team to support the provision of an effective and safe clinical service.

The Unit is currently open 8am-9pm 7 days a week for 365 days a year, with staff working on a rota to meet the needs of the service.

This qualified ACP post is to join an established experienced team of 4 other ACP's, all of whom have other sub speciality interests that inform some of the acute medicine pathways through SDEC.

SDEC and the acute medicine medical team has an established track record of supporting the role of the ACP within the service to achieve high standards of care for patients.

Main duties of the job

Take a lead in the provision of specialist clinical knowledge and advice to other staff, the wider multi-professional team, allied health professionals, patients and their families/carers and partner organisations

Take a lead in the provision of education and training for other practitioners and allied health professionals; including health promotion

The post holder will take a lead role within a team who provides high quality specialist clinical care

The post is based in SDEC.
