Job summary

This opportunity is available for a highly motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Physiotherapy department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Specialist Band 6 Physiotherapist using specialist clinical skills and clinical reasoning to provide a high quality Physiotherapy service within Cardiorespiratory Rehabilitation Service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. The primary role is to work with cardiac and repsiratory patients but the role will also include other respiratory and cardiology conditions, covering acute wards, groups and outpatient clinics.

This post include aspects of community work, so post holders will be required to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car for work purposes.

There will be opportunities to allow you to develop a wide range of clinical, teaching and supervision skills. You will also work closely with the other team members and share responsibility for managing band 5, support staff (bands 2-4) and students.

You will play an active role in audits and service development.

You will be required to work a shift pattern between the hours of 08:00 - 17:00 and will be expected to participate in 7 day working rotas; including weekends and twilight shifts (12:00 - 20:00).This post does not include an on call requirement.

Main duties of the job

  1. To act as an experienced autonomous practitioner, providing specialised physiotherapy assessment and treatment programmed to cardiac and respiratory patients
  2. To independently manage a caseload, using evidence based /patient centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  3. To deliver care in both acute and community settings.
