Job summary

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and compassionate nurse to join our team as a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Gynaecological Oncology at the Northern Gynaecological Oncology Centre (NGOC), based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead.

Established in 1948, NGOC is one of the UK's first and largest specialist centres for gynaecological cancer care. Serving a population of approximately 2.6 million across the Northern Cancer Alliance region--including the North East and Cumbria--the centre is internationally recognised for its research and clinical excellence. NGOC is also designated as a Centre of Excellence for Ovarian Cancer Surgery by the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO).

This post offers an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled nurse to deliver expert, holistic care within a multidisciplinary team. The role involves advanced clinical assessment, holistic needs assessment, coordination of patient care, and acting as a key source of support and education for patients, families, and colleagues.

The successful candidate will demonstrate clinical leadership, emotional resilience, and a commitment to service development, education, and quality improvement. Main duties of the job

To lead and coordinate the delivery and development of the Gynae oncology service through the use of effective evidence based practice in line with agreed national standards for patient safety and clinical practice

To provide the highest standard of holistic care for patients through the utilisation of advanced clinical skills and advice in the assessment and management of patients, working autonomously and with the multi-disciplinary team to improve the quality and safety of patient care

To work autonomously and be accountable for the planning and delivery of all aspects of patient care in relation to Gynae oncology and as set out in the NMC code

To continuously improve clinical care standards in line with the clinical governance framework to ensure the highest quality of care is provide in the safest manner

To provide clinical leadership, expertise and specialist clinical advice and support to clinical staff on the management and care of patients within Gynae oncology and lead the effective delivery of care to patients

To lead the in provision of expert specialist knowledge, care and experience to support to the wider nursing team to facilitate the effective delivery of care to patients at all times

To lead and participate in the continuing improvement of services in line with the Trust objectives

To lead the provision of education and training to clinical staff and internal/external agencies
