Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the Diagnostic Imaging Admin, Clerical and Support Services Team at Gateshead Health Foundation Trust as a Radiology Support Worker Team Lead.

This role will support the Admin, Clerical and Support Services Manager in the day to day and line management of Radiology Support Worker (RSW) process. This role will co-ordinate, organise, allocate and manage the RSW staff and ensure all Radiology Teams have the required support from this team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon and Community Diagnostic Centre at the Metrocentre.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, good IT skills, have effective organisational skills, be able to work under pressure and use your own initiative to solve problems.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and induction of staff within Radiology Services Support Team
  • Monitor the induction and training of new members of staff
  • Work with the Radiology Services Support Team Manager/Deputy Manager to allocate workload to team and plan weekly staff rota's ensuring all areas are appropriately covered and bank allocations are requested and allocated
  • Ensure the provision of an effective RSW service to the clinical services in diagnostics
  • To line manage the Radiology Support Worker team
  • To coordinate the RSW team ensuring appropriate service cover in all imaging modalities
  • To be responsible for the completion of performance management, sickness absence escalation, appraisals, core skills and CPD and annual leave authorisation for the whole team.
  • To have a flexible and adaptable approach when coordinating the team
  • To coordinate the RSW team to support radiographer/sonographer staff in day to day management of service delivery
