We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Dietitian to join our friendly and pro-active Nutrition and Dietetics Service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.
This permanent post offers an enthusiastic Dietitian with passion and experience working in nutrition support an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge and provide a high quality dietetic service. We will also consider applications from graduate or experienced Dietitians with a passion for community nutrition support who are interested in the opportunity to develop their skills further in this area.
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with members of the frailty multidisciplinary team including consultants, specialist nurses and allied health professionals to provide care across acute community sites. The successful candidate will be passionate and motivated to develop the service and care for the most vulnerable people.

Main duties of the job
To be responsible for providing a specialist dietetic service across Gateshead, to frail adult service users at risk or suffering from malnutrition, within a range of settings including outpatient clinics, care homes, patients own homes and where appropriate in reach within the acute setting.
To act as a clinical specialist within the area of community nutrition support; working within a multiagency team including specialist nurses, consultants, Frailty team, Care homes, GP's and other Allied Health Professions (AHP's).
To be responsible for co-ordinating and developing the community nutrition support service for older adults within Gateshead.
To provide clinical education to health care professionals and other appropriate agencies across Gateshead, in many settings.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a specialist dietetic service to the older adult population of Gateshead who are malnourished or at risk of malnutrition secondary to long term conditions such as COPD, dementia, pressure damage etc. Working within the MDT, the successful candidate will promote the profile of dietetics and be the source of nutritional expertise to patients, families, carers and the multidisciplinary teams across Gateshead.
There will be opportunity to develop and deliver clinical education sessions, to a range of health professionals involved in the care of older adults at risk of malnutrition. Staff members are actively encouraged to develop themselves, the service and promote the role of the Dietitian within their relevant specialities, by way of attending and presenting at conferences, writing articles, carrying out audits and research.
Staff members are actively encouraged to participate in audit, monitoring, evaluation and development of the dietetic services, there is the expectation that all staff are involved in supervision of junior members of staff, students and apprentices as required.
