Job summary

Gateshead Health is looking to recruit an IT Store Person to manage the inventory of hardware and software, ensuring that all IT assets are accurately tracked, stored, and maintained. Key responsibilities include overseeing stock levels, handling procurement and returns, and coordinating repairs. This role is crucial for providing timely access to essential resources, supporting efficient asset management, and maintaining organised and secure storage. The IT Store Person will help minimise downtime and ensure smooth IT operations, playing a vital role in the overall effectiveness of the IT department.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of an IT Store Person include:

  1. Inventory Management: Oversee the accurate tracking and management of hardware and software inventory, ensuring that all items are accounted for and stored properly.

  2. Procurement and Stock Control: Handle the ordering, receipt, and storage of IT equipment and supplies. Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages and manage reordering processes.

  3. Asset Management: Maintain detailed records of IT assets, including tracking their location, status, and lifecycle. Coordinate the disposal of obsolete or damaged equipment.

  4. Coordination of Repairs: Manage and coordinate the repair and maintenance of IT equipment, including liaising with vendors and service providers.

  5. Storage and Security: Ensure that all IT equipment is stored securely and that access to the storage area is controlled and monitored.

  6. Support for Service Desk: Provide timely access to hardware and software for the Service Desk team, assisting in the swift resolution of technical issues and minimising downtime.

  7. Reporting: Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, asset status, and procurement needs to support effective decision-making and budget management.

  8. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all IT store activities comply with organisational policies and regulatory requirements, and maintain accurate documentation for audits and tracking.
