Job summary

This role will support the delivery of the Trust's internal communications and engagement for the circa 5,000 staff at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.

This role comes at a pivotal time and will support the internal communications for staff, working in partnership with the communications team and the people and organisational development team to ensure the smooth operation of day-to-day internal communications activity.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities will include creating engaging content for internal communications channels, supporting the management of the communications inbox, updating StaffZone (intranet), monitoring and measuring communications channels and creating bulletins, briefings, posters and other collateral. You will work across a range of projects, supporting colleagues as well as being the lead for some areas of work.

  • Plan and implement internal communications under the supervision of the communications manager and head of communications Supporting the editorial responsibilities of all internal communications channels, from sourcing and developing proactive stories and working closely with internal stakeholders to deliver the process from planning to implementation Liaise with staff to generate content and manage the flow of information across the trust to raise the profile of health and wellbeing Writing, editing and proof-reading copy to the audience for a variety of different internal channels Help maintain effective administrative systems within the communications team including electronic systems for media enquiries, press cuttings, manging the generic mailbox, distribution lists and internal communications Deliver intranet news stories, posters, screensavers and other internal trust literature as appropriate, ensuring that the copy is tailored for relevant audiences and in plain English. This includes, designing and developing engaging screensavers for display on staffs computer screens. Support the wider work of the communications team. This could include liaising with the media, developing press releases and developing content in a range of different mediums Work with colleagues to ensure that the intranet is up to date, relevant and clearly understandable. Lead on the development and production of materials for staff Support the delivery of internal events such as staff briefings, updating the hospital noticeboards with timely and relevant content as well as internal notices and announcements Ensure work is delivered on schedule, including ongoing liaison with stakeholders, suppliers and providers. Cascade important communications circulations to colleagues inside and outside the trust as appropriate. Maintaining the communications team planner of activity and events, advising on inter-relationships with external events and milestones Develop good working relationships with staff networks, key internal stakeholders and other internal communications colleagues within neighbouring trusts To support the head of communications in other areas which may include the organisation of attendance at conferences, Trust events and official openings and the management of crisis situations, including the major incident procedure.
