Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Elderly Medicine at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. The post would be suitable for an experienced Medical SHO who is interested in furthering their knowledge, skills, and experience in Elderly Medicine, whilst working in a stimulating and supportive environment.
The successful applicant will be based on Ward 24 in the Jubilee wing and will ideally have at least 12-18 months working in Medicine at SHO level with previous experience of the QE Hospital and a specific interest in Elderly Medicine both further advantages. The post is available immediately until July 2024 initially and potentially extendable further by mutual agreement.
The post is full time (10PA) with no fixed on-call included but applications from candidates who would prefer to work less than full time will also be considered.
Main duties of the job
This post would suit an experienced junior doctor in medicine with an interest in Elderly Medicine and an aspiration to further their experience in the speciality before committing to a future career path. The appointee would work on Ward 24 in the Jubilee Wing, a 'medically optimised' Elderly Medicine ward taking patients from our other Wards in the Jubilee Wing for ongoing care, rehabilitation and discharge planning.
The appointee would provide a continual and senior presence in the ward supporting the other junior doctors who rotate on and off the ward every two months. They would be a part of the Elderly Medicine team and be encouraged to keep a portfolio and participate in all educational opportunities within our department.
The post is available full time (Mon-Fri 9-5) with no fixed on-call commitment and represents a worthwhile opportunity to secure a fixed and guaranteed block of work with the support of a clinical supervisor to improve your CV.
