We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Dietitian to join our friendly and pro-active Nutrition and Dietetics Service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.
This permanent post offers an enthusiastic Dietitian with an interest in, or previous experience working with young patients diagnosed with type 1 diabetes an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge and provide a high quality dietetic service.
The successful candidate will work within a supportive MDT to provide dietary guidance and education for paediatric patients with type 1 and less commonly, type 2 diabetes, their families and education institutions within Gateshead.

Main duties of the job
- To provide a specialist Dietetic service to children with type 1 diabetes and their families across Gateshead within multi-disciplinary team clinics.
- To provide specialist Dietetic input to children with type 2 diabetes and their families.
- To manage a caseload of complex patients, within outpatient clinics and Children's Emergency Care Department and via home and school visits (as required).
- To act as a clinical specialist in paediatric dietetics within a multiagency team including specialist nurses, paediatricians and other Allied Health Professions (AHP's).
- To provide additional input into a small general paediatric dietetic caseload.
