Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated people who have completed the Foundation degree in Health and Social Care with specialisation in Diagnostic Radiography to join the busy Radiology Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.As an Assistant Practitioner, the post holder will provide, high quality images under supervision and in accordance with radiation regulations and departmental protocols and procedures. The successful candidate will work in plain film imaging, with registered radiographers to support the provision of a 7 day/24 hour service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and satellite site at Blaydon.
The post holder needs to be well organized with good communication skills to ensure they can work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team to ensure Radiology provides a high quality service to all its users. A sympathetic attitude to patients is essential ensuring safe and compassionate care. You will need to be able to cope with distressing and often challenging situations while prioritising your workload. In addition, some office duties will be required including basic computer skills where you must have good attention to detail and maintain accurate records.
Main duties of the job
To perform plain image radiographic projections in a variety of locations under the supervision of a Radiographer / Practitioner.
Ensuring high quality imaging and a good standard of care through the effective use of evidence based practice in line with agreed local and national standards.
To adhere to and encourage other disciplines to acknowledge local rules and IR(ME)R
Support the Department in providing a timely radiographic service on a 24/7 basis.
The post holder will be flexible in their approach as the Radiology Department is constantly changing so that it can provide a service that meets Local and National Modernisation Agendas.
