Job summary

PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY

Applications are invited for suitably qualified and experienced candidates who are currently in Core Training or soon to complete their Core Training in Psychiatry to join our team to support the Learning Disability Service.

The vacancy has arisen due to a previous ST4-6 post holder having successfully completed their training and a maternity leave gap. The post [0.8 WTE] is available from August 2024 until February 2025

Our St George's Higher Specialist Training Scheme in Psychiatry of Learning Disability has 5 approved posts covering the SW London boroughs of:

  • Sutton, Merton & Wandsworth (3 posts in total, with SW London & St George's Mental Health NHS Trust)
  • Kingston & Richmond (2 posts, with Your Healthcare)

We also have 3 approved CT1-3 posts in Psychiatry of LD across our St George's / SW London region.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have access to formal training academic programmes together with other Health Education England trainees and other personal development opportunities. These posts offer opportunities to be on the middle-grade SW London & St George's Mental Health NHS Trust on-call rota.

Inclusion on the on call rota is dependent on having or obtaining Section 12 approval status.

All available posts will offer some 'supporting professional activity' sessions, allowing the successful post holder to further develop their training portfolios to assist them in future career development and progress, according to their individual needs.

This could include engaging in Teaching, Audit, Research or other Specialist Clinical areas.

Our scheme's six Consultant Psychiatrists in LD are all approved educational supervisors, and have established publication records and active training involvement (e.g. MRCPsych CASC examining).
