We are seeking a motivated, Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our community Learning Disability Healthcare Team. As a friendly and dynamic team, we provide specialist services for adults with learning disabilities across Wandsworth.
Wandsworth Community Learning Disability Healthcare Team is a dynamic multidisciplinary team with a range of professional groups including nursing, occupational therapy, psychiatry, speech and language, dietetics and physiotherapy. Psychology and behaviour support provision is delivered within an integrated MDT. The service works in close partnership with external health and social care professionals, local providers and third sector organisations.
You'll be part of a team that is compassionate and supportive, and genuinely committed to working together with the people who use our services, their families, carers and wider networks.
The trust is developing an internal Band 5 rotation. The successful post holder can express an interest in joining this rotation at interview.
Main duties of the job
You will work with a designated caseload identifying occupational therapy goals as part of the overall care plan, using specialist mental health and occupational therapy assessments, including MOHO tools as well as provision of specialist equipment. Assessment and intervention will take place in a variety of community settings including clients' own homes, supported living facilities, registered care homes and community day services.
You will carry a varied caseload but will also receive clinical leadership. You will be supported in this aspect of the role by the Clinical Team Leader and Lead Occupational therapist.
The successful candidate will join our wider Occupational Therapy service which includes our acute and urgent care, community, CAMHS and All age eating Disorders and Specialist service lines. We meet quarterly for Occupational Therapy training events which have recently included training around sensory profiling and MOHO. We have regular OT forums for professional support and development and can arrange staff to shadow OTs in other services for development opportunities.
