We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident, and highly motivated Mandatory and Statutory Training Lead to join our friendly and passionate team; whose members continuously strive to improve our services.
The Mandatory and Statutory Training Lead will support the Head of Learning and Development in strategically operationalising the Trust's agreed classroom and eLearning mandatory and statutory training (MAST), in order for our staff to be equipped with the right skills and knowledge to deliver safe and effective patient care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the setting and maintaining high standards for training delivery and build capability within the Directorates across all areas of MAST. The role is based in SWLSTG Mental Health Trust, where responsibility for mandatory and statutory training compliance lies with the Learning and Development (L&D) department.
In collaboration with clinical and non-clinical leads, the post holder will lead systems to collect and monitor education data in line with internal and external guidance. They will be the Trust's expert for MAST and will regularly review ways of working and implement innovation, where and when required. They will be the senior lead for all training that is managed via Compass, ensuring compliance with statutory and mandatory topics is maintained, and education and training for these topics are delivered effectively and data is recorded and kept accurately.
The post holder will be responsible for working in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Trainers, L&D Manager, L&D Business Manager and Digital Learning Systems Manager to ensure that MAST compliance targets are met across the organisation and the Core Skills Training Framework and other relevant National legislations and frameworks are adhered to at all times.

- Implement and evaluate the education and training strategy and annual training plan for mandatory and statutory training, and ensure that they meet the Trust core education requirements and national and government requirements for service delivery in a responsive, appropriate and cost-effective manner.
- To lead and provide line management support and appraisal to Digital Learning Systems Manager and to provide support, supervision and guidance to Subject Matter Experts and Trainers in the delivery of cost effective, high quality and evidence based/good practice education and training programmes, using a range of effective teaching and learning methods, meeting learner needs, in a range of settings (classroom based, work based, team training).
- In collaboration with Subject Matter Experts, Trainers and eLearning Developers, design training and learning activities that meet quality assurance and performance management requirements both internally and externally.
- To lead the operational management of the face-to-face and eLearning internal education provision service in the Trust.
- With the strategic support from the Head of Learning and Development, lead the coordination of the timetabling and scheduling of MAST provision to support the education and training plans, whilst maximising the use of available resources and ensuring that internal education meets the Trust core education requirements, in a responsive, appropriate and cost-effective manner.
- Responsible for the overall performance of the MAST service provision and the annual business planning to meet the required demands of the organisation.
- Provide guidance, expertise and support to the Subject Matter Experts and Trainers to deliver a range of theoretical and practical clinical skills training, using a range of effective teaching and learning methods, meeting learner needs, in a range of settings (classroom-based, work-based, team training).
- With the strategic support from the Head of Learning and Development, lead on the quality assurance processes for the education and training service provision, ensuring that data reporting and analysis is provided in an accurate and timely manner, and action/development plans are initiated as required.
- Provide written update reports and assurance to relevant committees such as, People Committee, ELT, People Matters, Quality Matters, HR SLT, JCC, Resuscitation Committee, Reducing Restrictive Practice Committee, PSTS etc. on the educational programmes, DNAs and compliance levels of MAST.
- Deputise for the Head of Learning and Development as requested, including to undertake investigations and advise on complaint matters in relation to MAST and associated initiatives and projects.
