Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate perinatal nursery nurse to cover maternity leave for 12 months and to join our Perinatal Community Mental Health Service, as we expand provision across Kingston, Richmond, Sutton, Merton and Wandsworth. The team consists of psychiatrists, nurses, OT, Social worker, psychologists and nursery nurses.

The SWLSTG Perinatal Mental Health Service is a developing and growing service providing perinatal mental health care across Wandsworth, Richmond, Kingston, Sutton and Merton. We are a multi-disciplinary service that recognises the need for joint working across many services and by offering specialist bespoke perinatal interventions. We are currently going through an exciting period of expanding our service in line with NHSE Long Term Plan Ambitions.

The service operates from a base at Springfield Hospital, but all clinical work is conducted from a variety of community sites, GP surgeries and children's centres. Staff can hot desk or hybrid work across the different trust sites below.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a specialist perinatal nursery nurse service to service users of the Perinatal service
  • To support the wider team to support clients with complex needs, using evidence based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • To provide nursery nursing flexibly across a variety of treatment programmes as required
  • To participate in and contribute to local service development and strategy.
  • To assist the multi-disciplinary team in meeting the needs of children and their families by undertaking delegated duties that support and enable family centred care.
  • To work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • The role includes ensuring that there is appropriate communication with other professionals involved in the care of the child and Mother.
  • The job role will be community based.

Encouraging social networks Opportunity to run parent groups to encourage socialization and signposting to local childrens centres. To provide supportive advice to mothers on establishing care for their baby for example help with infant feeding, soothing and sleep, coping and responding to crying , looking at "baby states" . Signpost and assist in attending current parenting programmes at local childrens centres Identify local age-appropriate play opportunitysSafeguarding To liaise with other professionals on matters related to safeguarding issues To maintain timely and accurate records in line with trust Policy. To provide information for Conferences or court hearings as required and to give information relating to the specific cases.
