Job summary
The CSL will work with staff within the community services to support the Clinical Manager and Deputy Head of Service Delivery to provide day-to-day operational management and clinical leadership for the community services in their area. The postholder would be responsible for the line management of the staff who work in these teams; for the performance management of the services in terms of quality, finance, human resource management and governance.
The CSL oversees and provides clinical leadership to the Band 7 Team Managers to ensure that their services deliver effective health care and wellbeing interventions in accordance with relevant standards and guidelines. They will escalate issues as necessary to the Clinical Manager for support, monitor daily incident reports and provide follow up and support to teams.
The CSL will deputise for the Clinical Manager as requested (including meetings). The CSL will contribute to objectives related to operational/governance improvements and will work with team managers to embed these under the direction of the Clinical Manager (CM). The CSL will lead on a number of key areas of improvement as directed by the Clinical Manager and develop any plans or change strategies required for these.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will provide assurance on and follow up on actions and outcomes of patient experience complaints and compliments, as well as actions arising from RCAs/SIs and CQC. The CSL will manage the agenda for embedding and monitoring all aspects of quality and governance such as the Merton Quality Governance Group for example, and provide reports and plans back to the group as required. They will also have responsibility for managing the service group risk register and complaints/incident actions.
The CSL will facilitate and channel teams ideas for quality improvement initiatives and will participate in QII projects at the direction of the Clinical Manager supporting teams to implement actions relating to improving clinical and operational performance and reducing unwarranted variation. The post holder will good knowledge of Qii approaches and experience of how to use these approaches.
You would work alongside the Advanced Clinical Practitioner to have oversight of service compliance with CQC - Key Lines Of Enquiry standards and support teams to implement actions relating to improving compliance with standards.
The CSL will assist the Clinical Manager as directed with business planning and business cases related to the vision and objectives for the portfolio and deliver cost improvement initiatives in conjunction with team managers. You will liaise with and involve business/corporate partners at the direction of the Clinical Manager.
