Job summary
The Adult Eating Disorders Service of South West London & St George's NHS Trust is seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic full time Band 6 RMN for a 12 month fixed term contract or 12 month secondment to join the Multi-Disciplinary team (MDT) within the Out-patient Local Service.
The Eating Disorders Service offers a specialist mental health service to people aged 18 years and older with a range of eating disorders. The service comprises of a Specialist Inpatient Ward which is a National Service, a Day Unit and Out-Patient Service that both offer a service to the population of Merton, Sutton, Wandsworth, Kingston and Richmond. You would be working as part of the Multi-disciplinary Out-patient Team comprising of Nurse practitioners, Doctors, Dietician, Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapist, Family Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Out-Reach Workers.
Main duties of the job
The role requires the post-holder to take supervised clinical responsibility for a caseload of clients suffering from eating disorders and to provide specialist clinical nursing care to clients under the supervision of the Team Leader. This will include conducting new patient assessments into the service, acting as named nurse for clients under CPA, being instrumental in involving clients in planning and evaluating their treatment.
The post holder will liaise with other services or professionals as necessary, co-ordinating the effective transfer of in-patients to the community team, and undertake group work as appropriate. The post holder will be expected to maintain excellent documentation/record keeping and correspondence, and work as part of the MDT team to achieve the highest possible care for the client group. Liaising with clients' families and carers as appropriate and to carefully plan discharges and aftercare is also essential.
Due to the nature of this complex client group, we would expect the applicant to have at least 1 year's post qualification experience. As it's a band 6 position the post holder would be expected to work autonomously to a degree and manage a substantial caseload that includes clinical risk management, care coordination and to undertake the NICE guidance, evidence base therapy, Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM), training will be provided.
