Main duties of the job

This post has become available due to the substantive post holder being on maternity leave.

We are looking for a Locum Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Service Line, on Laurel Ward, an acute psychiatric ward at Springfield Hospital, Tooting. Laurel Ward is for men only and has 18 beds plus two 'surge' beds for periods of high demand. The ward has a full multidisciplinary team including consultant, two trainee doctors, specialty doctor (0.5 wte), psychologist (0.5 wte), OT, specialist nurses, activity workers, healthcare assistants, ward clerk and ward manager.

Knowledge: Critical Expertise in Specialty

  • Completed minimum of three years full time training in approved higher psychiatric training scheme.
  • A detailed knowledge of the main treatment approaches for severe mental illness including psycho-pharmacological interventions

Ability to enhance specialty of mental health care provided. Management/Audit
