Main duties of the job
This post has become available due to the substantive post holder being on maternity leave.
We are looking for a Locum Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Service Line, on Laurel Ward, an acute psychiatric ward at Springfield Hospital, Tooting. Laurel Ward is for men only and has 18 beds plus two 'surge' beds for periods of high demand. The ward has a full multidisciplinary team including consultant, two trainee doctors, specialty doctor (0.5 wte), psychologist (0.5 wte), OT, specialist nurses, activity workers, healthcare assistants, ward clerk and ward manager.

- Medical leadership, working in the multi-disciplinary team and working closely with, and providing cross-cover to other Consultant Psychiatrists and occasionally the Associate Clinical Director within the Acute and Urgent Care Service Line.
- Overall responsibility for the day-to-day clinical care, risk assessment, risk management, initiation of medication, and the recovery focused care delivered by the ward team
