Job summary

The Acute & Urgent Care Service Line is pleased to offer an exciting new position working across the above services in partnership with the Clinical Manager and senior service line colleagues.

The post holder would provide management across the portfolio of clinical teams; the 5 x Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams (Sutton, Merton, Wandsworth, Richmond and Kingston); the Street Triage service and Recovery Cafes. They would have line management responsibility for the Band 7 Team managers in each of these services and would also contribute to service development and Quality Initiatives within these teams and across Acute & Urgent Care. Clinical Input into the oversight of the commissioned crisis cafes will also be an expectation of the role.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Service Lead will focus on supporting effective clinical leadership in these services and promoting a culture of high performance and clinical excellence. They will also ensure that governance and assurance systems are in place for care pathways and the clinical teams and will be expected to provide expert professional advice with regard to clinical care, incidents and complaints.

The post holder will be experienced in people and service management as well as having a sound understanding of governance structures and KPI's. They will have insight into their own leadership style and be willing to undertake personal and professional development as identified in Supervision and PADR with their line manager. Sound experience of working as a manager in the community or acute services is required as well as demonstrating an excellent and effective communication style, along with a high level of motivation and drive to improve our services.

The successful applicant will work alongside the extended team of Matrons and Senior Managers in the Acute &UC Service line and across service lines to improve pathways and partnership working.

Financial and Performance Management

  • To be responsible for ensuring that the service meets the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) agreed with CCG commissioners as well as nationally agreed targets (access and recovery).
  • To deliver the services within the allocated budget and ensure that monthly financial reviews are undertaken.
  • To work closely with the services allocated Financial Business Partner to ensure the services financial position remains within budget.
  • In agreement with the Head of Service Delivery, the postholder may be responsible for an allocated budget for the service.
  • To oversee the development of and distribution of key service performance reports to internal and external stakeholders, such as the Trust Board and the CCG.

  • To ensure the service is delivering effective health care and wellbeing interventions in accordance with NICE Guidelines, Royal College of Psychiatry stadards and Policy Implementation guidelines.
  • To ensure service standards are applied and kept under review and to inform the Matron / Clinical Manager and Head of Service Delivery of any significant problems or concerns in this regard.
  • To promote and develop positive and integrated working relationships with the services third sector partners.
