Job summary
The Ward Clerk on the Acute Care Unit (Admissions Ward) provides effective administrative and clerical support within a busy admissions unit. The role includes delivering a client-centred reception service, greeting patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and welcoming manner.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Ward Clerk supports the smooth running of the unit by ensuring an efficient administration and clerical service for the Acute Care Unit.

Main duties of the job
- To provide a client centred reception service with respect to greeting patients, visitors and staff.
- To effectively deal with internal and external telephone enquiries; resolving queries as appropriate or otherwise passing them onto the appropriate individuals.
- To ensure that all relevant information including Healthcare Record are available for all patients.
- To record all patient information on the confidential computer system accurately and in 'real-time'.
- After discharge of patient, to document, track and deliver completed Healthcare Records to the appropriate department.
- After discharge of patient, to make any outpatient appointments as requested by the clinical team.
