Job summary

Starlight Paediatric Ward is seeking 3Band 5 Nurses who are passionate about delivering high-quality care to children and young people in our local community.

The Homerton is an 18-bed unit providing holistic care for babies, children, and young people aged 0-16, with an emerging pathway for 16-17-year-olds. We care for children with a wide range of medical conditions, day cases, and some emergency surgery. Our unit offers HDU care for deteriorating patients prior to transfer if intubation and ventilation are required.

We regularly support children with learning difficulties, disabilities, and mental health conditions, and we provide training to help you develop your skills in these areas.

As a Band 5 Nurse, you will:

  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT)
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Access support from our Practice Development Nurse and Practice Facilitator to plan your professional development

Training opportunities are available to help you grow and progress in your career

*Please note - this vacancy is not suitable for Overseas Registered Nurses required to take the OSCE exam.

Working Hours: 37.5 per week

Main duties of the job

Main duties include:

  • To work closely with clinical colleagues within children and families' services and the Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
  • To work closely with parents and carers of children and young people
  • To support care programmes and care pathways
  • To support the senior nurses in achieving service objectives
  • To liaise appropriately with all members of the multidisciplinary team in a manner that promotes effective teamwork, participation in MDT meetings.
  • To document all patient details to the required standard in relation to the admission, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care using the systems where appropriate.

We welcome informal visits so you can meet members of the team.

Interviews will be held face to face.
